Edit: Jumper Minimalism

We clear our wardrobes in April with a Spring Clean and by July you’ll be grateful you just moved them to under the bed as you can once again edit your old clothes for fresh summer style. This time I’m tackling hoodies!

Now in the past I have strongly declared myself a hater of vests and sleeveless items on my body because I felt it was weird. However, I must admit recently I found myself desiring a sleeveless hoodie for summer evenings where a t-shirt isn’t enough and a full hoodie is too encompassing. For me the sleeveless hoodie is the perfect solution.

IMG_2484It’s very simple to take an old hoodie and update it. By taking a ruler measure about an inch or two from the top of sleeve out, then draw a line with a white pen or chalk to cut. I suggest cutting at an angle into towards the main body of the jumper. Once you’ve done this repeat on the other side and if you desire cut it a little shorter until it’s just perfect. This can then be left for a relaxed slight capped sleeve style or folded under to be sewn (or just fabric glued) down for a neat finish!

I decided to do this with both a pull over hoodie and a zip up IMG_2432which could be worn with a white vest top if you wanted to or on it’s own too. Both allow a great fitting style which will save you money. I also liked this hack because many of the sleeveless hoodies currently in shops have very wide gaps round the arm which come down your side which is a little strange feeling.

And of course the left over sleeves can be worn alone if you so desire for a high level cat walk fashion look if you dare!
